Most doctors recommend that you limit your fat intake to about 25% of calories – much less than the 34% of calories that the average American consumes. The reason is that both monounsaturated fat (found in olive oil and canola oils and most nuts) and polysaturated fat (found in corn, safflower, and sunflower oils) actually support heart health by reducing LDL cholesterol while leaving HDL cholesterol unchanged. That’s important because your body needs HDL to flush out LDL.

On the other hand, saturated fat, found mainly in animal foods, increases heart disease risk. The link between the two is so strong that the American Heart Association recommends getting no more (and preferably less) than 10% of calories from saturated fat.

Fiber – especially the soluble kind found in grains, beans, and fruits – binds with cholesterol in the body and helps remove it along with the waste, explains Diane Grabowski-Nepa, R.D., nutritional counselor at the Pritikin Longevity Center in Malibu, California. Researchers cannot yet explain how fiber works its cholesterol-clobbering magic. One popular theory is that it binds with bile-acids in the intestines and escorts these cholesterol-laden compounds from your body. Your body then has to recruit more cholesterol to make more bile acids, reducing your blood cholesterol level in the progress.

How much fiber does it take to safeguard your health? Between 20 and 30 grams a day, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Add some antioxidants

Vitamin C and E and beta-carotene are antioxidants. As their name suggests, the antioxidants protect against oxidation, a naturally occurring process in which renegade oxygen molecules called free radicals damage healthy cells and contribute to the artery-clogging process.

Just how protective are these nutrients? When researchers at Harvard University compared the diets of more than 87,000 nurses, they found that the nurses who ate more antioxidant-rich foods were 46% less likely to develop heart disease than the nurses who ate the least.

No DV has been established for betacarotene – but you need a daily intake of about 5,000 IU to match the DV of vitamin A. (Your body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A).

What is a raw vegan food?

It is extremely foods of plant origin, which is preparing ie heated above 47C degrees because it is considered to be destroyed most of its enzymes, vitamins, minerals and protein. The food is consumed as they come from nature and its preparation consists of cutting, pressing, blending, sprouting and dehydrating.


Why eat raw food?

The heat changes the molecular structure of food, making nutrients mostly unusable. Cooked or cooked food is less digestible than raw foods. Everything is consumed and which can not be absorbed or stored in the body, it must be eliminated as waste. Eating cooked food produce so much waste in our body organs for elimination can not reach to be discarded and waste accumulate in the body. How to eat raw food?

It is recommended that the transition be made slowly. Doing so may result in ejection of too many toxins at once, whereas they can  back into the body if there is any blockage in the intestines. This can cause malaise headaches, nausea, vomiting and even fever and chills.

If you eat meat, the first step would be to switch to a vegetarian diet.

After approximately 1 month (or when you feel ready), switch to vegan diet, which means without consuming any animal products (milk, dairy products, eggs). During this period your body will pass through the process of cleaning. It is important to drink plenty of water and be physically active in order to have regular bowel movements to throw out toxins and to avoid returning them back into the body.

Slowly you start to enter one or two meals live in your diet and you will notice that the body will begin to require more fresh and healthy food!

Tips To Diet To Slow Down The Aging Brain

A diet rich in leafy vegetables, beans, berries, whole grains and wine helps in slowing the aging brain and slowing the reduction in cognitive abilities, the researchers advise.

Scientists studied 960 elderly people, aged on average 81.4 years, 40 homes for the elderly in the Chicago area over a period of 4.7 years. They found a slower reduction of mental abilities in those who ate a diet closest to this.

As National Fitness Month draws to a close, it’s a good time to focus on ongoing fitness practices that can help to keep us healthy all year long.  One daily practice you may want to consider is Tai Chi.

Tai Chi is a series of physical postures, or “forms”, which are linked slowly and precisely by meditative movement.  It originated in China more than 1,000 years ago and is considered a martial art that is practiced primarily for its health benefits, including reduction of tension and stress.

All You Have At Home And Drink It Only When You Are Sick!

We all know that chamomile tea is healthful and they all probably have at home. However, whether you drink every day? Here’s why you should.

The most recent study, which examined the effects of this tea, has shown that it affects the life extension, but only in women. This plant reduces the risk of all causes of death for a whopping 29 percent.

Researchers was not clear why only works in one half, or why prolong life only for women.


American scientists, for seven years, they followed 1,677 men and women from the United States and Mexico, studied the data of epidemiological studies in older people, of whom 14 per cent were drinking chamomile tea. They concluded that women who drank chamomile risk of premature death was 29 percent lower than those who were not drinking chamomile.

This relationship remained such even when they are recruited by medical history, genetic predisposition and lifestyle, so we can say that the data are relevant, however, is what’s interesting, these results are not valid for men, but for women only.

Dr Bret Haurej, Faculty of Medicine, University of Texas, says that it is a likely incidence of habit.

– This difference has to do with traditional gender roles in society. Women are responsible for household chores, but also for the health of the family, speaking from the traditional point of view. Therefore, it is probably more reliant on traditional medicine than men, and more often used natural remedies such as chamomile – he says.

So the conclusion is not that Chamomile reduces the risk of premature death in women, but only in those who consume it regularly.
