Blueberries Can Help Improve Memory

Consumption of cranberries increases the amount of vitamin C in the body for purposes of 25% fiber and containing magnesium. They also have high levels of antioxidants that can reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and even Alzheimer’s disease.

A team of scientists from the University of Florida, led by Dr. Robert Krikorijan found that antioxidants are just as influential in improving memory and cognitive function in some older. But not only antioxidants deserving of this. In previous studies on animals have shown that anthocyanins (deserving of the color of blueberries) are also good for the brain.

The researchers did two tests. The first survey involved 47 adults of around 68 years, began to show signs of Alzheimer’s disease. First performed tests and their brains scanned, and then formed two groups. One group consumed a placebo powder every day for 16 weeks, while the other group consumed frozen blueberry powder of which was equal to a tablespoon of fruit. For those participants from the group ate the blueberry powder was shown to improve memory, and enhance the words and conceptual thinking, while brain scans showed that increased activity had.

The second test involved 94 people aged between 62 and 80 years who had memory problems. The researchers divided the participants into four groups. The one given group of blueberry powder, the second fish oil, fish oil and the third powder, and the fourth placebo. Those who took the blueberry powder or fish oil or separately, have shown some improvements in memory and brain activity, but not as good as the participants of the first examination.

The researchers say it will take more tests, but one thing is certain: Blueberries really improve memory, so enjoy them.
